CORIANDER

Coriander and turmeric prices fell by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today in view of subdued demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stocks.

Coriander and turmeric prices eased by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 9,000-16,500 and Rs 6,400-11,000 per quintal, respectively.

Marketmen said sluggish demand from retailers and stockists against sufficient stocks pulled down coriander and turmeric prices.

CARDAMOM

Cardamom prices rose 1.86 per cent to Rs 841 per kg in futures trade today as speculators engaged in creating positions amid rising demand in the spot market.

Further, tight stocks position in the physical market following restricted arrivals from producing belts also supported the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for November contracts rose by Rs 15.40, or 1.86 per cent, to Rs 841 per kg, with a trading volume of 529 lots.

The spice for delivery in October was up by Rs 8.90, or 1.08 per cent, to Rs 829.40 per kg, with a business volume of 224 lots.

Cardamom prices rose further by 0.28 per cent to Rs 958.40 per kg in futures trade today as speculators engaged in enlarging positions, tracking a firm trend at spot market on rising demand .

Further, tight stocks position in the physical market on restricted arrivals from producing belt fuelled the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in September added another Rs 2.70, or 0.28 per cent, to Rs 958.40 per kg in business turnover of 118 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in October month gained 80 paise, or 0.08 per cent, to Rs 950.10 per kg in 17 lots.

Market analysts creation of positions by speculators supported by rising demand in the spot markets mainly kept cardamom prices higher at futures trade.

Cardamom prices were down by 0.15 per cent to Rs 916.70 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at prevailing levels amid sluggish demand in the spot markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in August declined by Rs 1.80, or 0.20 per cent to Rs 916.70 per kg in business turnover of 73 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in September contracts shed Rs 1.30, or 0.15 per cent to Rs 884.00 per kg in 15 lots.

CHANA

Chana prices declined 0.66 per cent to Rs 2,855 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators reduced exposures amidst increased supplies from producing regions in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chana for delivery in August moved down by 0.19, or 0.66 per cent to Rs 2,855 per quintal with an open interest of 1,18,540 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in September declined by Rs 17, or 0.57 per cent to Rs 2,943 per quintal in 93,370 lots.

CORIANDER

Coriander prices fell by 0.33 per cent to Rs 10,600 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators reduced positions amidst subdued demand in the spot markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, coriander for delivery in July eased by Rs 35, or 0.33 per cent, to Rs 10,600 per quintal with an open interest of 27,560 lots.

The price for August declined by Rs 34, or 0.31 per cent, to Rs 10,908 per quintal with an open interest of 29,470 lots.

CARDAMOM

Continuing its winning streak for the fourth day in a row, cardamom prices moved up further by Rs 6.40 to Rs 944.50 per kg in futures trade today, taking positive cues from the spot markets.

Besides, tight stocks position in the physical market due to decline in arrivals from producing regions influenced cardamom prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in July added Rs 6.40, or 0.68 per cent, to Rs 944.50 per kg in business turnover of 279 lots. In a similar manner, the spice for delivery in August gained Rs 4.60, or 0.50 per cent, to Rs 920 per kg in 61 lots.

Mentha oil prices fell further by 0.25 per cent to Rs 767.10 per kg in futures trading today after participants reduced exposures amidst sluggish demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in June eased by Rs 1.90, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 767.10 per kg in business turnover of 501 lots.

Likewise, the oil for delivery in July contract shed Rs 1.60, or 0.20 per cent, to Rs 780.50 per kg in 296 lots.

Analysts said apart from weak trend at spot market on sluggish demand from consuming industries adequate stocks position on increased arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly influenced mentha oil prices in futures trade.

Cardamom extended losses for the second day with prices falling 3 per cent to Rs 870.80 per kg in futures trade today as speculators engaged in trimming positions, tracking a weak trend at spot market on sluggish demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in June plunged by Rs 26.90, or 3 per cent to Rs 870.80 per kg in business turnover of 123 lots.

In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in July contract traded lower by Rs 10.10, or 1.13 per cent to Rs 885 per kg in 270 lots.

Market analysts said besides sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position, mainly pulled down cardamom prices at futures trade.

Analysts said profit-booking by speculators at prevailing higher levels and subdued demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position, mainly kept pressure on the cardamom prices at futures trade.

Mentha oil extended gains and prices rose further by 3 per cent to hit upper circuit at Rs 937.80 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created positions largely driven by strong demand from pharmaceutical industries in the spot markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in April gained Rs 27.30, or 3.00 percent, to Rs 937.80 per kg, with a trading volume of 155 lots. Similarly, the oil for delivery in March edged up by Rs 26.90, or 2.99 per cent, to Rs 926.20 per kg, with a business turnover of 409 lots.

Marketmen said a firming trend at the spot markets on the back of demand from pharmaceutical industries amid restricted supplies from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh, mainly influenced mentha oil prices at futures trade here.

Chana prices extended gains for the second straight day by adding 0.72 per cent to Rs 2,936 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators engaged in enlarging positions, driven by strong demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chana for delivery in February added Rs 21, or 0.72 per cent to Rs 2,936 per quintal with an open interest of 19,730 lots. Similarly, the commodity for delivery in April gained Rs 15, or 0.50 per cent to Rs 3,026 per quintal in 94,210 lots.

MENTHA OIL

Mentha oil prices declined by 0.20 per cent to Rs 782 per kg in futures trading today as speculators indulged in profit-booking at existing higher levels amid sluggish demand from consuming industries in the spot market. Besides, adequate stocks availability in the physical market following increased arrivals from Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh put pressure on mentha oil.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in March declined by Rs 1.60, or 0.20 per cent to Rs 782 per kg in business turnover of 111 lots. Similarly, the oil for February delivery shed 40 paise, or 0.05 per cent to Rs 772.90 per kg in 247 lots.

Cardamom prices extended gains for the fourth-straight day by adding 0.54 per cent to Rs 759.60 per kg in futures trade today as speculators enlarged their positions supported by rising demand in the spot market.

Tight stocks availability in the physical market due to less arrivals from producing region further fuelled the uptrend. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, Cardamom for delivery in February gained Rs 4.10,or 0.54 per cent to Rs 759.60 per kg in business turnover of 12 lots.

In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in March traded higher by Rs 2.80, or 0.35 per cent to Rs 807.80 per kg in 130 lots.

CORIANDER

Coriander prices fell by 1.16 per cent to Rs 8,800 per quintal in futures market today as speculators reduced their positions at existing higher levels driven by sluggish demand in the spot market. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, coriander for delivery in April fell by Rs 103, or 1.16 per cent to Rs 8,800 per quintal with an open interest of 31,400 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in February declined by Rs 86, or 1.07 per cent to Rs 7,980 per quintal in 25,660 lots.

Cardamom prices rose by 0.40 per cent to Rs 724.90 per kg in futures trade today after speculators enlarged positions supported by good buying in the spot markets.

Sentiment improved further as a result of firm demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from producing belts.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for February contracts rose by Rs 2.90, or 0.40 er cent, to Rs 724.90 per kg, with a trading volume of 136 lots. The spice for delivery in March was trading up by Rs 2.80, or 0.37 per cent, to Rs 755 per kg, with a business volume of 44 lots.

MENTHA OIL

Mentha oil prices rose by 0.44 per cent to Rs 819.20 per kg in futures trade today as traders created fresh positions, driven by pick up in demand from consuming industries in spot markets.

The trading sentiment improved further on lower arrivals from major producing area of Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in January rose by Rs 3.60, or 0.44 per cent, to Rs 819.20 per kg, clocking a business volume of 120 lots.

Cardamom prices drifted 0.18 per cent to Rs 725 per kg in futures market today as speculators lightened positions amid sluggish demand in the spot market.
 
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in January declined by Rs 1.30, or 0.18 per cent, to Rs 725 per kg in business turnover of 18 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in February shed 80 paise, or 0.11 per cent, to Rs 711.30 per kg in 71 lots. Market analysts said offloading of positions by speculators triggered by subdued demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position mainly led to decline in cardamom prices at futures trade.

SUGAR

Sugar futures rose on Wednesday to their highest in a week on expectation the government will give incentives to mills to produce raw sugar for exports.
 
At 0830 GMT, the key February contract was up 0.4 per cent at Rs 2,754 ($44.73) per 100 kg on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange. It rose to Rs 2,758 earlier in the day, the highest level since January 8.

F&O NEWS

India Indices – Wednesday Nifty Index opened up with +15.80 points at 6178.05 in positive trend from the previous closing at 6162.25 and closed in positive at +6174.60. The full day we saw hyper movement in Nifty but after the morning bell we saw some bullish trend in Nifty but near end of the market day nifty index closed with some down movement but could not sustained at its previous level and the whole day Nifty Index traded between 6192.10-6160.35. At the end of the day Nifty future contract expiring on 30 Jan 2014 Gained +0.03%, +2.05 points up to close at 6197.90 from the previous closing at 6195.85 with a premium 23.30 points and percent change in open interest of +4.34%.

Bank Nifty  –Wednesday Bank Nifty index opened at +11071.75 in Positive trend with +35 point from the previous closing at 11036.75, After the morning .Bell we saw hyper down trend in Bank Nifty Index but mid the market day we saw normal recovery in Bank Nifty Index. The full day Bank Nifty Index traded between 11122.75-10988.80 and closed with uptrend +11053.75 with +0.15%, +16.95 points up from the previous closing 11036.75.At the end of the day Bank Nifty future contract expiring on 30 Jan2014 Gained +0.09%, +10.10 points up to close at +11109.80 with premium 56.10 points and percent change in open interest of +6.42% .

FII’s Activity – According to FII’s Activity On January 6 in F&O segment we saw FII’s were taking interest in index options and stock futures only we saw hyper buying and selling in index options of FII’s and short selling in index futures and stock options. By this activity of FII’s we can say that they
can go in short position in particular segments to the next market day.

Chana prices moved down by 0.82 per cent to Rs 3,017 per quintal in futures trading today as participants trimmed positions, triggered by increased supplies from producing regions against subdued demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chana for delivery in January moved down by Rs 25, or 0.82 per cent, to Rs 3,017 per quintal with an open interest of 56,690 lots. Similarly, the commodity for delivery in February lost Rs 21, or 0.68 per cent, to Rs 3,078 per quintal in 66,030 lots.

Refined soya oil remained weak for the second day and prices shed 0.56 per cent to Rs 682.50 per 10 kg in futures market today as speculators reduced positions following sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, refined soya oil for delivery in January fell further by Rs 3.85, or 0.56 per cent, to Rs 682.50 per 10 kg with an open interest of 34,140 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in February declined by Rs 3.75, or 0.55 per cent, to Rs 675.60 per 10 kg in 1,24,140 lots

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in January rose by Rs 1.20, or 0.18 percent, to Rs 676.50 per kg in business turnover of 78 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in February edged up by 60 paise, or 0.09 per cent, to Rs 703.10 per kg in 34 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by speculators on pick up in demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions mainly led to rise in cardamom prices at futures trade.
